Make your own Chawanmushi (Japanese Steamed Egg) at home easily with these seasoning packets. Each bag contains three 15ml sauce packets. Each sauce packet makes 2 servings.

Size: 15ml x 3packets (Makes 6 servings.)
Made in Japan.

Cooking instructions:

1. In a bowl, mix together one 15ml sauce packet, 1 egg, and 200ml of water.
2. Pour mixture into 2 bowls (2 servings)
3. In a steamer, steam at high heat for 2 minutes, then steam for another 10-13 minutes on low to medium heat.
4. Optional: add toppings such as shrimp and mushroom.

For a smooth and silky textured egg, pour the egg mixture through a sieve or a fine meshed strainer before cooking. Cover the lid while cooking, but leave a small gap/opening to allow steam to escape.

The products you receive may routinely have the lot/batch number, manufacturing date, and/or expiration date printed on it.

The product labels may vary depending on the country of origin. This is generally what we see:

  • Korean products usually print both the lot number and the expiration date.
  • Japanese products usually print the lot number only. If a date is printed, it would typically be the manufacturing date.
  • Taiwanese products usually print both the lot number and the manufacturing date.

This is a generalization only (there are exceptions). Not all manufacturers follow the same format.

Here is a quick translation/guide to reading the dates:

MFG = Manufactured date
EXP = Expiration date

製造日期 = Manufactured date
製造日 = Manufacturing date
出廠日期 = Manufacturing date
有效日期 = Expiration date

標示於瓶身 (西元年/月/日) = Marked on the bottle (year/month/date)

批號 = Batch number

保存期限: 3年 = Shelf Life is 3 Years
保存期限: 5年 = Shelf Life is 5 Years
